Jason Wall

Founder, Executive Director, Board Member; Future Youth Records

Future Youth Records founder and executive director Jason Wall grew up in South San Francisco, CA, and began playing drums at age nine. By 11, he was in the school district honor band and, at 13, recruited to the Conquistadors Drum and Bugle Corp despite their minimum age requirement of 16.

A year later, during his freshman year of high school, Wall enjoyed his first teaching experience when he was asked to instruct the percussion ensemble. The following year his band director recruited him into the College of San Mateo symphonic band.

At 17, a terrible car accident left Wall with a shattered right wrist and several fractures to his arm. It took seven surgeries and an external fixator screwed through his fingers and forearm to put his wrist back together, but he was told he would never play drums again. After seven years, with sheer determination and the help of such great teachers and mentors as John Xepoleas, Wall defied the odds. In 1998, Wall was offered the drum chair with the Stanford University Jazz Orchestra and had the opportunity to record their first album with Louie Bellson and a European tour. During this time, Wall began to get hired for studio sessions, first for the hit video game Sim City 3000, followed by a variety of work for artists, television, and other video games.

As time went on, Wall overcame his limitations and realized his professional dreams, playing and teaching workshops at camps and privately until 2012, when he decided to form Future Youth Records. Wall retired from being a work-for-hire in 2015 to focus on all FYR productions and his own music projects.

In 2020, he established himself as an entrepreneur by founding an online clothing store, Affirm Fit Clothing, and he continues to develop other socially conscious businesses that will launch in 2023.
