For 23 year old singer-songwriter Connie Claxon, writing "Walking Home" during the 2021 COVID-19 lockdown was both essential and cathartic. The high-profile murder of Sarah Everard near Connie’s London neighborhood, along with the tragic femicides of Zara Aleena and Sabina Nessa, sparked nationwide protests and intensified focus on women’s safety.

“It made me reflect on all the precautions I had to take growing up in London just to keep myself safe,” Connie shares. “Still quite often [I] don’t feel safe when I’m out on my own.”

Connie started her musical journey with piano lessons early on, though her true passion emerged in her teens. She cites artists like Adele, Lily Allen, Maisie Peters, and Chappell Roan as inspirations.

Today, Connie balances teaching music in a secondary school with her musical aspirations.
